Special day trip for cruisers

Driving to the tea plantation and rainforest

Nature and culture

Price: 120.00 USD per person

Departure is at 8:30 a.m. from Tanjung Perak Port in Surabaya. The trip takes you more into nature: tea plantations, rice terrace landscapes, temples, and rainforests. The journey goes south about 1.5 hours from the city of Surabaya, the second largest city in Indonesia after Jakarta. The first destination on this trip is to visit the tea plantation. The approximately 700-hectare tea plantation was established in 1910 during the Dutch colonial period. The plantation was passed on from the Dutch to the Indonesian government and passed on to the locals. Walk through the tea plantation and visit the tea refinery to see how everything is made. Then take a break to drink tea and try out original teas.

Lunch break in a restaurant on the way towards Trawas to the beautiful rice terraces in East Jawa. You will never get tired of enjoying the rice field landscapes. On the kilometer-long journey, you will only see the brilliant rice terraces far and wide. The landscapes are also very varied with rainforests and villages that you can enjoy during the journey. In between we take a short walk through the breathtaking rice field landscapes.

We then visit the ancient Hindu temple of Jolotundo with its holy water spring from the Gunung Penanggungan mountain. The temple with the water spring dates back to the 8th century and is extremely important for the Balinese Hindus and Javanese Kejawen as a place of worship. Balinese Hindus often go on a pilgrimage to the holy water spring.

You have time to swim (no bikinis please) in the disease-healing water. The locals believe that the water from the spring could cure their illness. The temple is located amidst the lush rainforest at the foot of Mount Penanggungan.

Back to Tanjung Perak port where the ship is moored.

The city tour of Surabaya

The second largest metropolis and at the same time the hero city in Indonesia

Price: 105.00 USD per person

Surabaya is the second largest city in Indonesia and the capital of East Java. The city has a population of about 3.3 million people and is known as the “City of Heroes” because of its role in the struggle for independence. Surabaya has developed into an important commercial and industrial center.

During your sightseeing tour in Surabaya, you will be welcomed by our tour guide and driven by car to the following attractions:

The Grand Jagat Karana Hindu Temple, where Hindu worshipers often concentrate their activities before moving to the Kembang Jepun area, the oldest trading center in Surabaya.

Hong Tiek Hian Chinese Temple, the oldest Chinese temple in Surabaya, was built by Tatar troops during the Mojopahit era of the kingdom. This religious place is visited by many people and there is a daily Pho Tee Hi Wayang show with Chinese stories. The temple is located near Chinatown on Jl. Dukuh (North Surabaya).

The Heroes Monument is a monument commemorating the warrior spirit of the people of “Arek-Arek Suroboyo” (Surabaya’s people) in the face competition. The monument is located in front of the East Java Governor’s Office.

The Majapahit Hotel was the scene of the famous “Hotel Yamato Incident”. On September 19, 1945, pro-nationalist Indonesian youth revolutionaries tore the blue part of the Dutch flag from the hotel to change it to the red and white Indonesian flag in advance of the Battle of Surabaya. You also have the opportunity to tour the hotel and take a coffee break.

Surabaya City Hall, a building with modern architecture, formerly used as “Gedung Dewan Perwakilan Rakyat Daerah” and now the center of Surabaya city administration. Here you can also visit the photo library of the former city hall.

The original KRI Pasopati 40 submarine is on display at the Monkasel Museum, located near the Surabaya Plaza shopping center. The submarine is 76.6 meters long and 6.3 meters wide. It was moved to this location on July 1, 1995, and officially opened on June 27, 1998, by the Naval Commander of the Republic of Indonesia Arief Kushariadi.
