After breakfast, we will depart at 7 am to visit Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple, along with the smaller temples Candi Mendut and Candi Pawon. The journey from Yogyakarta to this stunning site in Central Java will take approximately one hour. We will then return to the cultural and academic city of Yogyakarta for a city tour that includes the Kraton (Sultan’s Palace of Yogyakarta) and the remnants of Taman Sari Water Palace. Our visit will extend to Kota Gede’s old town, where we will delve into the traditional lifestyle of Yogyakarta’s residents by exploring the local market, a batik factory, and silver workshops. In the afternoon, we will proceed to the Hindu temple complex of Prambanan, which grandly illustrates the Hindu epic Ramayana.
